Each session is one hour and tailored to each child’s pace, learning style and goals. Content might include reading, analysis, writing tasks, or revision techniques. Sessions are always grounded in building confidence and mastery of key skills. 

I offer online group sessions for KS4 students only, with both small groups (up to 4 students) and larger groups (up to 8 students) available.

Each term focuses on a pre-planned unit, such as GCSE preparation, key literature texts, or essential writing skills. Sessions include clear teaching, carefully differentiated tasks to support each learner’s needs, and opportunities for discussion. I maintain a supportive, focused environment where every student is encouraged to contribute.

Yes, I am always happy to begin with a one-off session. It is a useful way to see how I work and to discuss your child’s needs before arranging ongoing tuition. 

Absolutely! I will work with you to create a plan that fits your child's current stage, whether approaching exams or looking for some term-time support.

Absolutely. I have over eleven years of experience supporting learners with a wide range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, anxiety, and speech or language difficulties. My teaching style is calm, clear, and always adapted to suit individual needs. 

I teach to the AQA GCSE specification. This includes:

Plays: DNA by Dennis Kelly and An Inspector calls by J.B. Priestley. 

Poetry: Power and Conflict. 

Set text: A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.

Shakespeare play: Macbeth.

Yes, I hold an enhanced DBS check, available to view on request. 

Yes, I achieved Qualified Teacher Status in 2015, available to view on request.

I hold a First Class Bachelors degree in English with History, and a Master's degree (M.Litt) in English Literature from the University of St Andrews, available to view on request.

Lessons are paid for in advance either weekly or in blocks, whatever suits your schedule best.

If you ever need to cancel, please give me at least 24 hours’ notice and there is no charge. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice may still be charged, as I will have planned and set aside that time for your session.

If you have already paid for a session and cancel in good time, you can choose either a full refund or to reschedule for another date, whichever works best for you.
